Calculation Detectives puts addition and subtraction skills to the test! Children take on the role of a maths detective, investigating six case cards containing a mixture of correct and incorrect calculations. Their job is to examine the evidence, decide which calculations are correct and identify and fix any mistakes.
This activity encourages children to think carefully about their calculations rather than simply looking for the answer. It provides opportunities to practise addition and subtraction, check mathematical accuracy and develop reasoning and problem-solving skills. Can you solve all six cases and crack the calculations?
